Looking back on last year, I've been a little depressed at the irresponsibility in humans. And a little worried I wont be there this year to take in the poor things...
While working at a clinic (LAST YEAR ONLY), the following animals have come home...(some have stayed, others found homes):

2 bloodhounds - thought breeding their dogs would be cute and fun...but couldnt find homes fast enough when it wasnt what they thought it would be (totally neglected, they didnt feel like they had to feed the pups..."they have their mom")

1 boxer cross - puppymill

2 yorkies - one was a vicious 8 week old killer, one was "too big" and needed to be put down at 6 months of age

2 papillion x chihuhua cross' - possibly stolen, theif got scared and sent them in a TAXI to the clinic!

9 kittens -"my CALICO tom cat had kittens!"

2 adult cats - "tom cat" and friend (spayed and released)

3 baby rabbits - kids found them, played with them...and got bored and brought them in.

1 baby sparrow - fell out of a nest, someone brought it in instead of putting it back...this was a terrible time.

and a baby deer. - momma shot.

Hopefully this year will be a little slower...I think if I fill the bathroom with anymore kittens my boyfriend will run away.

Thus my faith in the general public lessens even more. I will say that you did a good job for taking them in, did the sparrow, deer and bunnies turn out ok? I know wild animals have a particularly hard time exspecialy when that young.

The deer found some does behind familys property, and left with them slowly over time.
The rabbits had to be tube fed :( But they survived and were released.
The sparrow was a pain in my ass. It had to be hand fed every 20 minutes for several weeks. I was lucky to have two awesome jobs, and two awesome boss' that would let me do this. (I kept her in an empty till!)
Shes lives with a colony of finchs, theyve accepted her very well.

I hate the problem people! Not willing to pay the money for the animals and blah blah blah! Once I saw a squrriel that had neurological symtoms but my parents wouldn't let me call the wildlife centre. The squrriel couldn't even jump off of the fence! It fell off. Poor baby( I have a thing for squrriels).

Ugh, it was a DAY old when they found it. It fell approx. 7 feet onto pure pavement. She had a lot of bruising, but was asking for food. She was a stong little thing.
We've had pigions, robins, baby ducks, and a falcon. Birds follow me!

Squirrels ares are all over this neighbourhood. Rabies is a big concern with squirrels who act very strange, your parents should have let you report it.

Chickens are horrible to each other. :main_no: Theyre always needing help.

Poor birds. I'd love to rehibilitate a penguin. They look like a lot of fun. :p

Ours can be cannibals, i just lost a good show hen to the road islands via low on the pecking order. The beat the crap ot of her and managed to break her beak. The dear was too far gone when i found her. Penguins do sound fun but they are probably the stinkiest bird out there i can imagine, not to mention their feeding requirments. lol.

As a former RVT who stays in touch with the veterinary community, I get a lot of fosters.

I've had a dreadful year for kittens. Usually bottle babies are one of the highlights of the spring/summer for me. This year I got a litter of VERY preemie kittens who slowly died off one by one over the course of a week, a kitten who had been allowed by the owner to nurse off of mom when mom has MASSIVE mastitis and was on intense antibiotics. He didn't live long. Then I had a pair with a respiratory infection that killed both kittens eventually and got one of my own cats sick! I was ready to throw in the towel permanently on bottle kittens, but after a month off I was offered more and I wasn't about to turn them away. These two had a female littermate who died, but the boys are thriving.

Luckily, my sister in law and I share most of our fosters so we don't get too wacky from sleep deprivation.

Who else has been around lately....an 8 year old chihuahua whose owners thought they'd make a little extra money by breeding her, then left her in labor for TWO DAYS and surrendered her with a belly full of dead puppies rather than having a c-section done.

A 12-ish year old yellow ratsnake who had been eaten alive by a live rat because he's BLIND AS A BAT. Just a hint: blind snake + live prey = bad.

A 3 month old chi-whatzit puppy who chewed a lamp cord and the owners surrendered because half of his face is sloughing off. He's going to be fine, thank goodness.

A guinea pig left in a box in a parking lot, covered in abscesses. Couldn't save her.

Before/after pics anyone? Here's the yellow ratsnake upon intake:
