Had to assist the 11 gram egg by chewing off the gecko company packing bag.....she is still sucking on the yoke and wouldn't give it up. The egg shell is nearly 1 1/2 inches so you can tell what a geckomainic she is length wise.........Never had one retaining the yoke before. Let me know if there is a better place than in a dark hide over some heat.. Maybe in a Humid Hide?....Would appreciate it since I don't think she is with out worry at this point. She does seem strong.

My goodness! She's a big girl! I have always kept my babies that hatched with the yolk sack still attached in a hatchling tub on heat with nothing in it but moist paper towels. That way there is nothing that she can catch it on to tear it away before she's ready. And dry paper towels are too abrasive and the yolk will just stick to it. This has always worked really well and I haven't had any problems. Good luck! Keep us updated on that little beastie!

lil beasty girl

Hey, Thanks. I was a little worried about too dry and sticking to something. I have her on a cloth that I will put inside a container like she hatched in with wet paper towels underneath it, with air holes in the lid and then set it on the heated tile over the UTH. Sound OK. That way I don't have to interrupt her sleep. I have to touch her every so often to make sure she is still with us. Lil Beasty might be the right name. My appreciation. Take care. / HJ

Lil Beasty Transfer

I managed to get it done, retaining the yoke food supply in tact. Glad I did not wait too long...It was sticking already....She still seems to be strong, but I woke her up in the transfer over....think she is doing OK so far. Take care. / HJ

Glad to hear the transfer went OK. That setup should work for as long as necessary. I've had little ones in their tubs and just kept moistening paper towels a couple times a day for days until the yolk sack dried up and detached. Also glad to hear she still seems strong!

Must be pop bubbling over into them.

This lil beasty gal did away with egg yoke already and wants biscuits and wax worm gravy.... ...She must also take after Dad ( he is the one that rides on my head, under my ball cap to get wax worms at the post office).............look at her already. 10 hours old and came out of the eggy humid hide onto my hand.....up my shirt and tucked herself into my armpit.....Didn't try to weigh her but her length is 3 1/2 inches......" I thought I was going to be up all night with the mother monitoring system on, checking in on them every half hour........
Crazy damn gecko people. Who ever got me hooked on this?......It was my gecko bud Jimmy, who has been deployed to Irac. riding around in tanks defending our freedom to have all the geckos we want to have................
Thanks Jim.....Get back safe, so you can watch your own geckos.
