T Rex: Largest gecko in the world?

T Rex, our Super Giant and first son of Godzilla, is now 19 months old and is 12" and weighs in at 171g. He is now bigger than his father already and has a long ways to grow yet. Giants and SGs grow till they are 2 yrs old, and even after that continue to put on weight, so who knows how large Rex will get. Odd thing about him is, he hardly eats! He eats a few mealies now and then and is not fat like other really large geckos. He's very well proportioned and his tail is not fat either. He is kept in a 36x18 Exo Terra setup, so he has room to roam and grow. I think the size of the setup, as with any animal, is a determining factor in their growth potential. We are hoping Rex can make it to 180 or even larger by the time he's done growing.

I had heard there may be a larger leo out there, so if anyone has specific info on that please let me know. We will not make a formal announcement that he is the biggest in the world until we get complete verification of that.

I'd love to breed Rex...problem is though, finding a female that can handle him. The search continues......anyway, here he is for those who have not seen him before. Updated pics of him on the scale coming soon.

Lmao. I like how the one green soldier is surrendering. There is a rumor of a bigger gecko but until it emerges I'd say woohoo you got the biggest. One day we will walk them down the street like an iguana. Bravo to you on your success of a beautiful beast of massive proportion.

He looks like my avatar, just in big :D

I don't think you need to worry about a female for him; lots of smaller females have "handled" big boys before. Why don't you get one of Godzilla's granddaughters or so, the biggest you have... One with lots of bright white, like he has!

He is very imposing looking....my biggest females run from him, and I've got some big girls!

Some people who see him in person are even afraid of him.....like the gecko that devoured Cleveland! But he's actually very gentle.....he does look at you like you wouldn't want to piss him off though!

Anyone have a nice 140g female you can sell me?

Wow! In addition to his size, I also love his coloring. The very first time I bought a gecko from a breeder, 7 years ago, I was looking for an albino that had the yellow and white bands. I didn't get it, but it still attracts me.

LOL. HJ, where do you come up with these???

I'm sure Rexy would be up for a good time....but she better be 140+!

Another funny thing about him....he's maybe the best shedder of any gecko we have. Never a speck of shed on him or in his terrarium. He's a clean machine. And when he does his business on the corner of paper towel in his terrarium, he is so precise with his aim it's mindlblowing. He balances over it like a ballerina to make a deposit as if there were a bullseye in the middle of the paper towel triangle. As someone has suggested here, we're thinking of putting a picture of our most disliked politician on the paper towel....actually we have a few in mind. (names withheld to avoid offending either party here.)

Fun with geckos.

That's awesome. This thread made my day! Keep us posted on Rex (and the search for Mrs. Rex)!
