Few months back our local big chain petstore was running a 50% off leo sale. Couldnt help but take a look at what they had to offer. Found these two albinos in the mix. I normaly dont buy from petstores but couldnt pass up a $15 albino. Since it came from a large chain store there is no idea what strain etc. So any help from you guys would be great!! Thanks in advance!!!

Tremper is the most common but there is no way to tell which one he is or if he's more than one without extensive test breeding. I believe its easier to buy an albino with known background rather than produce u to 60 babies to prove them out.

My first guess would be Tremper, but it's just a guess. Like Lisa stated, we can't always tell by looking at them. You would need to know what the genetics were to be certain.

Thanks! i totally agree, i was just looking for an opinion for the most part. I know its impossible to know for sure without breeding it out. Just heard people some can "tell" by looking at eyes etc.. I'm leaning towards tremper just cause they came from big name pet store, doubt there supplier is working with rainwaters. But who knows.. How the big time suppiers breed has always made me wonder.. do they have projects? or do they just pump out the babys.... any way thanks for the infos i'l still take any opinions on the matter tho

The suppliers of the big chain pet stores work with a TON of genetics! One of the biggest suppliers to the larger chains is the Gourmet Rodent. They are a very large, very well known breeder in the industry. The issue is that they do not keep detailed records of the animals that are bred for the sole purpose of the "Pet exchange" so it is a crap shoot when trying to identify genetics of the "pet quality" animals. I usually just refer to them as "Pet Albinos". Nice looking animals though!
