Does anyone have a recipe on how they breed a RAPTOR or APTOR??
Thanks I'm trying to find my way to breeding for Diablo blancos.Raptor consists of 2 recessive traits --> Tremper and Eclipse --> So to produce one, at a min. both parents must be Het Raptor. Best odds would be a Raptor x Raptor, then you would get 100% Raptors, but an Eclipse Het Tremper x Raptor will give 50% Raptors.
Aptors, are Raptors without the eclipse trait, so just trempers. Again, at a min. both parent must be het Tremper, but odds increase if they are visual for that trait. Thus, Tremper x Tremper = 100% Trempers
You best bet for diablo blancos is to start with two visual eclipses. So theres a few ways to go about it:
1) Eclipse het tremper, blizzard x eclipse het tremper, blizzard
2) Tremper Eclipse (RAPTOR) het blizzard x eclipse het tremper, blizzard
3) Eclipse Blizzard het tremper x eclipse het tremper, blizzard
etc, etc. You get the idea.
The reason I suggest starting with visual eclipses is because blizzards can have 'eclipse-like' eyes. Therefore unless you can 100% know all of the offspring will be eclipse, it can get tricky to tell true diablo blancos apart from tremper blizzards that just have funky eyes.
Thank you! That was very insightful. I currently have bred my Blizzard het Tremper 1.0 to my Albino het Tremper 0.1. Guessing I wont get anything too exciting out of that mix, but we will see soon as my first fertile clutch is nearing hatch date. I love the look of the DBs but i guess i will have to get a set eventually.
Blizzard het Tremper x Albino het Tremper? You crossed two albino strains? :/ That's asking for trouble really...
As for everything else, geckolabs covered that.
The only extra thing I have to say is that IMO a RAPTOR is Tremper Eclipse Patternless-Stripe and an APTOR is Tremper Patternless-Stripe. The reason a lot of people don't mention Patternless-Stripe is because it is polygenic and therefore cannot really be "planned" as such. It's just a Tremper is a Tremper, not an APTOR.
RAPTOR stands for - Red-Eye Albino Patternless Tremper Orange and consists of as above. I'm not sure why they put Albino and Tremper in there, maybe to clarify that a RAPTOR is Tremper Albino and none of the other Albino strains but it can be confusing.
APTOR stands for - Albino Patternless Tremper Orange - Same reasoning as above for why they put both Albino and Tremper in there.
I was under the impression that Blizzard was a recessive trait and not a "strain" of albino. The three strains of albino not to cross are Bell, Tremper, and Rainwater (Las Vegas).
Blizzard isn't an Albino, however you put Albino het Tremper. Which implies you have a Bell or Rainwater het Tremper since a Tremper cannot be het Tremper.
Also, all three Albino strains are recessive genes too.
Everything i have seen has clarified Albino het tremper that the specified albino was only tremper. I may have misunderstood but thank you for the clarification
There are three albino's - Bell, Rainwater and Tremper.
None of them are compatible and crossing them is.... Not recommended are the words I'm going to use here.
So for yours to be an "Albino het Tremper" it has to be a Bell or a Rainwater. Or it's a Tremper and not het Tremper.
Okay let me try to clear this up for you because you are reading too deeply into my post or im not making good sense. I have a Tremper Blizzard and a Tremper Albino. That is why I said Thank you for you clarification
Did you read my last post at all? I made a mistake in the way I posted. I thanked you for correcting me. I do not understand where YOU are getting confused. I Have a temper blizzard and an albino which has a temper heritage. Does this make sense? You said, direct quote, copied and pasted:-
"I currently have bred my Blizzard het Tremper 1.0 to my Albino het Tremper 0.1. "
That means you bred a visual Blizzard that is HET(carrying but not expressing) the Tremper Albino gene to a "Albino" HET(carrying but not expressing) the Tremper Albino gene. I honestly do not know where one or both of us is getting confused. If you have an "albino" het Tremper than you have a gecko that carries TWO albino strains and you just crossed it with a Blizzard het Tremper.
From that pairing you would get:
Normal het Blizzard, "Albino"(whichever one it is, Bell or Rainwater) 66% poss het Tremper Albino.
Tremper Albino het Blizzard, "Albino" - Once again, whichever it is.
A Tremper cannot be het Tremper so either you have a Bell het Tremper, Rainwater het Tremper or you have a Tremper instead of a het Tremper.
Does that clear anything up at all? I'm not reading "too deeply", I'm reading exactly what you have typed and saying the problems it can/may cause if you have a Bell or Rainwater het Tremper that you have bred.

I am not crossing two lines.
I am not practicing bad breeding habits.
I am learning and typed out something incorrectly. Of which you thoroughly made yourself quite clear to correct me on.
Yes I did read your last post. It seems either I am confused by your post or you are confused by mine. What do you mean you have a Tremper Blizzard when you said you have a Blizzard HET Tremper? And an Albino with Tremper heritage? I do not get what you mean by that.
Your Albino HAS to be Bell, Rainwater or Tremper. There is no "just albino", there are three strains of it and all are named differently.
What bit did you type incorrectly?
When one says "het" does it not imply that it is of the lineage of said breeding line? For example if i were to say i have a blizzard het tremper doesnt that mean that i have a blizzard of the tremper line? wouldnt that be the same as saying a Tremper blizzard????
So, would it not be the same to say that I have an albino het tremper, meaning i have an albino that is of Tremper lineage???
Or are you saying that I should just put Tremper instead of albino all together?
