SHTCT confusion

Hello, I'm kind of confused on what a SHTCT is, from what i read, its line bred, but yet they lack any kind of spotting what so ever, so basically if you bred two together, you could technically have normal looking babies with spotting. Thank you for the knowledge in advance!

I am similarly confused. I brought home a Sunglow 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out the genetics part but I'm not sure the right questions to ask/don't really understand the responses I'm getting (the breeder is great and super patient with me, but I don't want to keep bugging her). My sunglow is a proven breeder, not that I am planning to breed, but if we decide to, I want to make sure I have all the pertinent info.

Wishing I had paid better attention in high school biology.

I have heard over the years mostly that the super hypo trait is line bred, though some people at some time felt that it could be dominant (time to check google!). In any case, breeding two super hypos together doesn't guarantee that all the offspring will be super hypos, but it does highly increase the likelihood. That's what line breeding is all about: breeding the best specimens of a trait you can find to increase the likelihood that the offspring will be as good as or better than the parents in displaying that trait. Does that help?

Thanks that's pretty much what I thought, it's just hard to believe patternless is line bred. Thanks for the reply

A sunglow is a SHTCT + an Albino Strain..

I personally do not believe the basic Super Hypo is "line bred". You can line breed Super Hypos for nicer colors, but a hypo is a co dominant trait, of an yellow/orange animal with little black spots. A SUPER Hypo, is very similar to that of a super Snow. You breed any two regular hypos together you have a 1 in 4 chance of getting a super hypo first year. Line breeding refers to the breeding of a specific line of animals over GENERATIONS of animals.
