:main_huh: i am new to this and still learning

Recently i have come to learn that my female enigma is HET tremper albino .
I understand there are 3 types of albino's but how do tell witch is witch?
i know u cant see traits if the gecko is only het for somthing but ..
What traits make up a tremper albino? spotlessness ? patternless ? the lack of stripes?

this is the enigma het tremper albino http://img5.imageshack.us/i/dscn3504dlh.jpg/

how about tremper albinos?i cant find a clear discription on them other than they have pinkish color some times ...and are albino.. haha

and what do the other albinos look like?

also i will be buying a gecko that is het tremper albino so i can breed them as i am curious 2 see if i get a pure tremper albino ... what would it look like? or is it possible to buy a complete tremper albino to breed her 2?

thank you all for you're time and any help you can give

THere is no way to know which type of albino she is het for unless the person you got her from knows. You can see pictures of albinos by looking in the "show off your leos" section, the leopard gecko wiki as suggested, and google images. In general, tremper and rainwater albinos look similar but Bell albino's tend to have a more purplish brown color. Be aware that some tremper albinos, for example are going to look yellow white and beige with bands. Others will look orange and white (these are tangerine albinos with reduced/absent spotting) and others may look orange all over. The give-away is that albinos have no black, as mentioned above.

"Het" means, to put it simply, that your gecko has 1 gene for albino, when it takes 2 albino genes to show the trait. If you breed your gecko to an albino gecko (of the same type), statistically half the babies will look albino and the rest of them will also be "het" and have 1 albino gene, not two.

To understand you need to have a basic understanding of genetics. Punnet Squares, words like het or heterozygous and homozygous. between the sticky i linked in the above post and the wiki you should be able to figure it all out.

my question is not so much to do with the complex genetic traits on the non visible level , but more about the traits visable to the naked eye witch can be credited to the tremper and bred out of her .

if you read my post you see my question does not really asking anything about its base genes or sub dominate dominate or co dominate,
i am aware of how they work only asking what color and patterns are common in the tremper albinos i have looked at the leopard gecko wiki and read about tremper bell and rainwater seeing they all lack black spotting but have similer stripes and color from what i have seen

im asking what colors and patterns are most easily seen in the tremper and what to expect from breeding HER with another gecko that is het for tremper

i have confirmed from her breeder that she is HET TREMPER ALBINO
so now im wondering what to expect from breeding this trait out of her and if there are any suggested morphs het tremper that are worth looking into ?

thank you for all the help you folks have given me !:main_thumbsup:

you are all so wise !

i see now that the tremper is almost always barred and spotless? but when i see rainwater they seem the same

pics anyone?

The pattern has nothing to do with the albino trait. If it has stripes it because of stripe genetics. if it has bands its because it doesnt have stripe genetics. If its jungle, than in most cases it has both. If it is patternless than it is either a patternless stiripe, like a RAPTOR or APTOR or a Murphys patty. The Albino mutations only effect the melanocyte, the pigment cell that creates black pigment. Generally speaking though, bells tend to be a darker brown than trempers or rainwaters, but this is a very generalized statement.

Good luck breeding her. I would suggest breeding a homozygous tremper to her.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say "breeding it out". Do you mean that you want to breed in a way to have offspring that have no tremper because it's been "bred out" of them, or do you mean that you want to breed her in a way that the offspring will show the tremper trait, as in "the trait comes out of hiding"? I could post how to do it either way, but to save some typing, clarify for me and I'll do the best I can.

when i say breed it out i mean breeding the gene into full form and breeding it to see it

breeding it out .. i do see how thats confusing haha just a term iv always used!

i would love to keep and breed to pure tremper albinos breeding the gene out selectively to see it! !

Ok, basically to produce trempers from a het tremper you should use a homozygous(visible) tremper male. You will get offspring that are all either Tremper Albino or Het for Tremper Albino. The Enigma trait is dominant, so the young will receive that from their mother. You will end up with tremper Albino enigmas, and enigmas het tremper albino.

Statistically, only 50% of the babies will be enigma, assuming the mother is heterozygous for the trait.
It is much more likely that the enigma female is heterozygous for the Enigma trait, if she is homozygous for it the percentage goes up to 100%, but i strongly doubt this to be the case. Just because something is dominant doesnt mean that it is always passed on to the offspring, it just means that if it is passed on it will be expressed.

Only if the mother is homozygous for enigma. If it is dominant and she only has one copy, then her offspring will have a 50% chance of getting enigma.
right?
