hey everyone. I was just on a site playing around with their leopard gecko morph calculator and i noticed something that i have never heard of before. for example the phantom morph the options were
1 copy hypo and 1 copy snow
1 copy hypo 2 copy snow
2 copy hypo 1 copy snow
2 copy hypo 2 copy snow
i was wondering if someone could take the time to explain this to me. i have a pretty good idea of basic morph genetics and im always looking to learn as much as i can to help me understand my breeding pairings and outcomes. When i noticed the 1 copy 2 copy i was puzzled and could not make sense of it, so anyone that can help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time

I am confused by this as well.
What I thought were "copies" were related to the genetics themselves. Like take an albino(doesnt matter what strain), since it is recessive you have to have 2 copies of the albino gene to have an albino. When you only have 1 copy then it is a het for albino. So aa makes albino, Aa is het albino, AA is normal or no albino.
This doesnt make sense with hypos because hypos are line bred so I must have it wrong.

1 copy means heterozygous, and 2 copy means homozygous. Apparently hypo, or at least some hypo lines, act like a dominant trait, and the calculators treat them as such.

if you breed a hypo not a normal most just about all of the babies will exhibit some lighter colors and reduced pattern. remember original the hypo gene and tangerine gene were two different genes. now the hypo while being dominant is also selectively bred. i am speaking of the ray hine line hypos (which most all hypos you see derived from)
