I'm not to worry about the substrate. We haven't had any problems with digestion with our other leopards. Stool is very clean and we are sure to see what kind of hunter they are before ever feeding in the housing tank. Thanks for the concern, but I'm not trying to revisit the great substrate debate.
Yeah, the debate shouldn't be a debate. No sand ever. They're from the dessert, but if you want to prolong their life span, it's easier just to switch. Sand needs replacing, is hard to clean, horrible for the gecko, and an overall mess. Whereas substrates such as paper towel, or repticarpet, do not cause health issues, can easily raise the humidity if need be, are extremely easy to clean, and repticarpet even reduces the stench of the geckos feces. It's overall a smarter idea to go with an alternative substrate rather than keeping the gecko at risk.
You don't say? I really didn't do any research ever to weigh pros and cons of everything. How ignorant of me. Once again. If you want to rant about substrate choices I am sure there is a thread for that. I will state one more time. My personal choice right now is to pay close attention to my animals, feed sloppy eaters in an auxiliary tank, and check for bloating, lack of urine, and debris or blood in stool. You have your way I have mine. Thanks for being concerned.
