I have been debating a leopard gecko for months and am finally getting one next week. I have been reading everything I can get ahold of as far as their care. but I want to make sure I have everything covered.

- 10 gallon tank ( will most likely be upgraded to my 20 long when my turtle is upgraded)
- 2 exo terra medium caves
- shallow ceramic water dish
- mealworm bowl
- zoomed heat pad
- exo terra multivitamins
- Exoterra calcium with d3
- Zilla gutload
- metal feeding tongs
- Hygrometer
- temp pen

I still need to pick up
- something to make a humid hide
- I will pick up mealies when I get the gecko
- A critter keeper for gutloading.

Am I missing anything? I may have forgotten to list something.

Don'y forget pure calcium with no D3 to keep in the tank! Otherwise your setup sounds great, and like you really did your reasearch! Be sure to show us pics of the new guy (or girl) when you get it ;) Welcome to the forum!

On amazon.com, look up the hydrofarm thermostat. It is a cheap digital thermostat that your heat pad can be plugged into to regulate the heat source to a 90 degree hot spot. Also, the vitamin that I would recommend using is vionate powder which can be found on amazon as well. It is relatively cheap and is used by a lot of breeders. Also, if you want to do this, you can get some repticalcium with d3. I personally use it with d3 but it comes in the no d3 variant as well. I personally would only get one exo terra hide and save the space for the humid hide. I bought these food storage containers at target for $2. The pack comes with five. Also buy a brick of coco fiber($4) and use only a little of the brick to fill the humid hide. A tip with the container is to cut the hole in the top, so that it is harder for them to push the coco fiber out. Hope this helps and good luck with your new gecko:)!

I know most people use thermostats. I do not. I use a rheostat for my heat pads but I have to say I use the ultratherm heatpads which don't run as hot as the zoo meds do. But it sounds like you have everything covered. Good luck with your new gecko!

I dont understant how the pure calcium is contriversal... Most breeders agree that it is very good for your geckos. They cannot overdose on D3 if it is pure, and it lets them get the calcium when they know they need it. Some of my young geckos started to develop MBD even with every day dusting, but within three days of giving them a calcium dish they were walking and eating perfectly fine again :) I am a VERY strong believer in the calcium dish :D

Ok, I had to postpone getting my gecko, but thats ok, it gives me time to get everything ready and perfect.

Here is my final list for what I will be ordering. ( I have the tank)
- Small heat pad
-Small kritter keeper ( for Mealie gutloading)
- Small cricket keeper ( I will only be getting a weeks worth of crickets at a time)
- Eco earth ( for humid hide)
- Zoo med medium 3 in 1 ( as the humid hide)
- zilla 1000 watt temp controller
-Zoo Med Naturals bearded dragon adult food ( for gutloading)
- Zoo med calcium with d3
- Zoo Med reptivite without D3
- 2 medium exo terra caves

I will pick up calcium and an extra dish if I end up needing it.
