Leopard Gecko Heat Tape.

I want to get heat tape for my Leopard collection because it is getting larger but I know how to set it up but Im confused. I want to put the heat tape on wood but that could catch fire so should I cover the wood in Aluminum Foil Tape? Put the heat tape on and then the gecko tub? I read that to leave space for heat tape or heat would buildup? Then how would I heat my Leopard Geckos with heat tape?
