So one of my leopard geckos is very adamant about not letting me hold or touch him. i try to pick him up and he just runs around the tank avoiding me. i cant even touch him without him freaking out. Ive only had them for about three weeks.
Is it something i can break? Or is it just something he will always do?

Hello, are you approaching him and touching him?
Or is he coming to you?
My leo of 2 weeks won't allow me to pick him up either, but if I put my hand in the tank he will climb onto me and climb up my arm and onto my hands.
If you try to pick him up, especially often, then he will be stressed and probably do his best to stay away from you. Take it slowly and let him make the decisions.
Also, mine is very adamant about me not touching him, especially his back.

I have one that was like that as a baby. I just left her alone and now she is an adult and still skittish, sometimes I can pull her out and then she'll calm down, but she doesn't seem to care for it so I let her live her happy life in her tank. I probably could have tried letting her crawl on my hand more and that may have worked, but I didn't.

Some just don't like to be handled. You may be able to slowly work them into at least quietly accepting it for a short amount of time, but not all learn to like it. I have one male like used to enjoy it and would crawl all over me, and now he gets ticked off if I get too close without a tweezer and mealworm in hand :main_rolleyes:

I would suggest watching him closely if possible for an hour a day straight. To be completely honest I think that may be why mine is so comfortable with me.
