Grunting

Lately my gecko has been grunting. Ever since I bought him in December (He's about 5 months old currently) he's always been grunting, sometimes for reasons I don't know why. In his terrarium he often grunts, sometimes about 3 times per day. I check what's going on in the tank (There's also a year old female in the tank but she gets along with him and he with her) and he's just sitting in his corner where the heat pad is, completely away from the female. Sometimes he even does it in his sleep. He almost always grunts when I carry him (He's kinda flighty) and when he climbs on my shoulder for example, when he reaches the edge of my shoulder he grunts but I assume that's just from struggling. So is there any reason why he's grunting? Any reason to be worried about it? So far my only reason he grunts is because of the substrate, which is wood bark, might be rough on him sometimes. Although in his corner he left it bare to the glass, so I can't think of anything else. :main_robin:

Grunting is fine. Some leos will be more vocal than others. Some you may never hear make a sound, and others you may hear quite frequently.

It's a possibility, but if the only 'symptom' is grunting, i wouldn't worry, personally.

I have one male in particular that will sit on the couch next to me and grunt at me until I pick him up. Each animal is different, but i don't see any cause for concern

I have one little female that is quite the little chatterbox. She is always squawking at me about something. She gets especially talkative when dinner time is near, but generally just squawks whenever she sees me. Her voice sounds more like a squeaky chirp.

It doesn't hurt to check on his grunts, especially since he is with another gecko, but it seems like he is just a talkative little fellow.

Long shot here but you could check is nasal passages. One or both of his nasal passages could be blocked with some kind of obstruction like shed skin. Grunting to me sounds like almost trying to clear something from your nose or throat.
