This might be a little bit to read but I really need immediate help! I live in FL. This lizard I have is kind of beige/naked looking, almost see through. These lizards only come out at night and stay near lights on my house on the walls and ceilings. I attached a got a pic off google of what he looks like, someone said it may be a Mediterranean gecko. So anyway, my dog got ahold of him, gouged his eyes out, poor thing, the rest of him is fine. He has blood all in his head, I can see it right through his skin. It's been 3 days. I leave him outside in a shaded corner with leaves, branches and flowers so he's safe. I watch him closely to see if he was getting better. The next day or 2, one of his eyes appeared, looks totally fine, almost positive he can't see out of it though b/c he doesn't respond to anything near it then jumps if he's touched like it scares him. The other eye, there's a hole there and blood. So I left for 24 hours, when I came back, he looked horrible. The poor thing is dehydrating and shrinking and getting darker. His eye is swollen and black and blue now, Blood in his head still. Not moving much but he still is. He's dying, I can tell. He looks like a totally different lizard now. So I gave him a few drops of water, he licked it off his mouth. I don't know what to do, do I feed him? I don't want him to kill him, but I don't want him to suffer and die himself, do I kill him? I Rly don't want to, that would make me so sad after all he's been through. I am willing to do whatever it takes for the better of him. Can someone help me PLEASE!!!?? Very time sensitive!!!

If you can't get him to a vet, are there any reptile rescues or state wildlife centers nearby? Since he's wild they should be able to help. If you don't know of any place, please call a vet or local shelter, and they should be able to refer you to someone who could help, like a licenced wildlife rehabilitator.

That looks like a tropical house gecko. They look very similar to Mediterranean geckos. They are INVASIVE to Florida, so I wouldn't help it. They compete with native species and it's no good. So just let nature take its course.

I'm sorry but the first thing you should of done was to take it to the vets... Not waited days to see if it would get better... If that was your child you would of took the child straight to hospital an animal should be treated as soon as possible, if can't be treated then they will have to put it to sleep.

It wasn't a child. It was a gecko (not even a pet gecko) that ran into a predator. This person did not have to do anything. But they at least tried to get some help and info through a gecko forum.

Yes I know it wasn't a child. It's still a living thing though and they did say that the leopard gecko was theres meaning they takes care of it. And it was there dog that attacked it. I'm just saying how I feel, if there dog was hurt they would take it to vets

It was not a leopard gecko. Read the original post and you will see that. It also was not a gecko they take care of. They are invasive geckos that come into peoples homes at night time. Yes if my dog was hurt I would rush him to the vet like my own life depended on it. My dog is a different story than a wild gecko though.

Sorry not leopard gecko, it's cause I own a leopard gecko so I'm used to saying that lol. Yes I understand it's a wild gecko but the person did say they have a gecko, meaning they look after it doesn't it? It's still an animal going through pain, if I found an animal in the street I would inform the rspca where the animal was and what I can see is wrong with the animal, I wouldn't just leave it and turn to the Internet for help. I live in England and animals like the one here aren't just seen out in the wild but if I saw a cat or a dog injured I would alert the right people to come and have a look at the animal same for a bird or hedgehog or anything. Maybe I've got to much heart and hate to see an animal suffering, there all Gods creatures. The only difference with animals is they can't tell you there hurt or anything like us humans can

The OP did not say they take care of the gecko. They said it is one of the geckos that comes into people's houses at night. Very invasive geckos. Not a pet. She never took care of it or wanted the gecko in her house. Either way the post is old.
