Over the past 2.5 weeks of leo ownership I have slowly acquired everything I need to provide a good home for Rango but for one thing…an infrared temp gun. Can someone advise me as to a good one, preferably with a backlight but not something I have go have. I don't want to buy a piece of junk that will either break in a short period of time or give inaccurate readings. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations as I would like to get one ASAP.

Thanks, Debbie

I have a Southwire Temp gun I had bought at Lowes for years. Its really accurate and it only cost me between 20 and 30 bucks at the time. Still using the same battery too. It has multiple features including turning off the laser dot which is handy for reptiles that get spooked.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad I can pick one up tomorrow rather than have to order and wait for it to arrive. I really appreciate your response.

No problem! I love mine. It also has a back light like you were looking for that can be disabled as well as can display the lowest temps in the bottom corner so you can scan the cool side and and wave it over to the warm side and get a reading for both displayed at once. I have a friend that works HVAC and he let me compare it to his and it was only off a few fractions of a degree. Using it I was amazed at how far off some of the more popular digital thermometers on the market are. My two little yellow ZooMed thermos were off a few degrees and the long black Fluckers were even worse.
