Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to the Leo world as this is my first one and I have only had it for three days now. I have been researching Leo's for a while, and I'm hoping I have set up my viv as best as I can. I would just like some advice as my new leo is a bit skittish and does not seem to go into it's warm hide very often.

My current setup:
As my Leo (Charlie) is only three months old I have a vivexotic reptihome small vivarium which I plan to upgrade when he gets bigger.
I use reptile carpet substrate.
On the far left I have an extra paper towel down with a rock style cold hide which i moisten every couple of days.
On the right side I have a log style warm hide with a heat mat under the carpet which is set to 92 degrees F using a thermostat (mini stat 100)
I also have an artificial plant hanging on one side aswell as a traded tree branch to make it more natural.
Finally I have a leopard gecko bowl which I have fresh water in everyday and a little ceramic dish which I place meal worms in (with calcium/vitamin mix) as Charlie wasn't very interested in crickets. I get it won't be eating much die to the change of habitat so I find it easier to monitor Charlie's eating habits with meal worms.

Will it be better if I attach a picture to see if it looks ok?

Thanks for any advice given, I appreciate it!

Kash

Welcome to GF! A picture never hurts, but you gave a pretty good description. Some people find that repti-carpet can catch the gecko's teeth or claws. See how it goes, it may be OK. When I was using repticarpet I had 2 pieces so I could take one out and wash it and replace it with the other one. If you figure out where he's going to poop and put a small tile or paper towel there, it will save on cleaning the carpet. I use ceramic tile for my geckos. Once the gecko starts to eat regularly, I recommend adding the calcium and vitamins only every other feeding so he doesn't get too much.
