Temperature question

Quick question about maintain warm side and cool side temperatures.

I have a heat mat that on it's own is maintained around 91-95 degrees. My room temperature is only around 70 degrees though, so I do have a heat lamp that brings the ambient temperature in the tank up to ~75-80, however when the heat lamp is on, the temperature probe at the warm side reads a floor temperature of 96 or more. While the heat mat remains at a fairly constant temperature, the addition of the heat lamp seems to bring the floor temperature up while still only maintaining the ambient temperature around 80. Is this something I need to worry about fixing/balancing out? Or is this expected to happen?

I've tried fiddling with it by turning the heat mat down so it reads about 95 when the heat lamp is on, but then when the lamp is off at night the heat mat temp drops too 88 or less...

I'm just kind of at a loss for what to do. Any advice? How does everyone else maintain the ambient temperature and floor temperature? Thanks

Personally, I wouldn't use the heat lamp. Your house temps being at 70 is not cold. Usually people only use heat lamps if their house temps get to around 60 or less. I worry more about overheating rather than being too cold.

Thanks for the reply! I posted on another forum about this as well, and I think I may be worrying a bit much over the ambient air temperature. I read elsewhere that the ambient temp should be around 75-80, so I was worried I was too cold. Today I went out and got a dimmer and I've dimmed the heat lamp about halfway and that seems to maintain the air temp at 70 and the heat mat at 95
