Calcium supplement

I am a new owner to 2 baby gecko's. The pet store could not tell me how old they are, just that they were babies. They are both doing wondreful, eating and their tail has gone from skinny when I got them to being plump now - I have had them 2 weeks. Anyway, my question is, I have Reptocal for the calcium supplement and it says on the bottle to use no more then 3 times a week. However, most of the care sheets I have read say to dust baby geckos food everyday, and adults every other day. I also leave a small dish of it in the tank all the time. I certainly do not want to OD them on calcium, but I also don't want them to be deficient. Also, the lady at the pet shop said I didn't need a multivitamin for them, the Reptocal had it all. The bottle only says calcium with D3. Do I still need a multivitamin once a week? Thanks in advance for any responses!

Yes you still need a multivitamin, you can give it once a week or twice, there are many opinions out there on the proper dusting routine; a quick search of "vitamin dusting" should give you more information.
As for calcium overdose I would just look for the little "bulges" behind the front legs. It is common belief that those bulges are calcium pockets. What works for me is cutting back on calcium when those bulges become noticeable.

It is possible to give too much D3 to your geckos and that can be bad. Do a search on this forum and there will be lots of threads about the use of D3, you can take your time to read through all those threads.

I would just use the calcium WITHOUT D3 on a regular basis in addition to having a dish of that available for your geckos in their cage.

I alternate between D3 (1st and 3rd week of month) and a multi-vitamin supplement (2nd and 4th week of the month) once a week if not more depending on what I am doing (breeding, babies, etc).

This is how I do it, it is "a way, not the way" of doing it as there will be countless methods and personal experiences of each gecko owners that will vary on how they keep their geckos.
