Temperature question?

Hi guys and gals! I'm new to owning Leo's and need a little advice for temperature. I have a 24x18x12 Exo Terra tank with tile as my substrate. I'm also using an Exo Terra medium UTH. My temp on my hot side is ranging from around 93 during the day to 88 at night with no thermostat and my cool side during the day is 72 and drops to around 69 at night with no other heat source. My question is would it be beneficial to put a thermostat on my hot side and regulate it to around 90 or is it okay to have the fluctuation? Also, do you think I may need a heat source to bring my cool side temp up? Maybe a small or xsmall UTH with a thermostat? Any information is appreciated!

Ok, well if those temps are correct they sound just right to me. A fluctuation in temps of 2 to 3 degrees is no big deal and is natural. Most people would probably recommend a thermostat just to be on the safe side, but like I said those temps sound perfect. That being said, if temps are not being measured with an infrared temperature gun on surfaces I tend to not trust them. If I were you I would seriously consider buying a temperature gun.

Those temps seem pretty good but (IMO) It would be better to get a thermostat to regulate the temp and keep it consistant at about 90 degrees on the warm side. Doing this will most likely keep your cool side closer to 72-73 range. The thermostat will also benefit you in the summer if the enclosure starts to get to hot.

I agree with brad. No matter what I would invest in a thermostat. Ranco and Johnson's make a good affordable, reliable thermostat. Also I would look into getting a temp gun. They are invaluable :)

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the input! Summer temperatures completely slipped my mind. I will definitely get a thermostat ASAP!
