Hello, I have had him since last Saturday afternoon and I haven't seen him eating and he stays in his humid hide, but I have gone to check on him and have found him in front of the food bowl as if he was eating. He also hasn't been pooping. He only pooped once on the first day and once on the second day but I think that was from when he ate at the store I got him from. I have read some info that says the first few days can be stressful and that he will be shy. But I want to make sure that nothing bad is happening. I think he might be alittle stressed since ive been handling him, could that be it?

Hello,

How long have you had him for? It is a possibility he is stressed. You may want to try assist feeding him by putting your feeders in front of his face via tongs so he can physically see it. If you have any pictures that may helpful as well in order for the community here to help you out. Also, make sure your basics are covered, correct heat, setup, etc. There are many threads and caresheets here and on breeders sites that can help you with that if need be. Congrats on your gecko though!

It could definitely be stress. The general recommendation is no handling for two weeks after you get a gecko. You basically want to disturb it as little as possible.

You should also figure out if you're feeding him what he's used to eating. For example, if you got a gecko from a pet store that was only feeding him crickets, and you're trying to do mealworms, he might not eat them.

No problem! If you do use crickets you can do the de-legging method and take off their back legs to make it easier for your leo as well.
