Red lights?

I know that Leopard Geckos lack red sensitive cones, but I was watching a youtube video of a girl with 8 years of experience with Leopard Geckos say she read an article saying that red light at night damages the geckos eyes.

Does anybody know the answer if it is harmless at night? Also do the red lights create heat?

Never used red lights, so I actually don't know if this is true. Yes, red light....any over head light will produce some heat.

@scm133 I figured since they cant see them, I could use them during the night to see my little guy.

There's some evidence that leopard geckos are able to see red light, so perhaps only use it when you want to watch the geckos and turn it off the rest of the night.
