I'm getting new leopard geckos and I would love some input. I am a first time reptile owner. I figured I would try Leo's as a first reptile. So here's what I have: I have a 55 gallon aquarium with a length of 4ft, a height of 1 and a half feet, and a width of 1 foot. Is this an ideal size or no. But if so I'm thinking 4 Leo's 1 male 3 female. How many hides would I need? Also how many on each side? Another thing is feeding. I've heard mealworms in bowl all day. I've also heard the opposite. How many mealworms would I give them? I've heard as many crickets they can eat in 15-30 minutes. I assume that's true. for a substrate I'm going to use reptile carpet I think it is. I've heard sand can be swallowed and cause problems so I'm avoiding it. I also want to make sure they're very healthy. What signs are there to show if that? I think that sums it up so any help would be much appreciated.

Housing male and female together is a really bad idea. More so if you new to leopard geckos and not ready to care for the eggs. Repti-carpet is better than sand, but if the gecko bites the carpet when trying to bite a cricket their teeth will get caught in it. I would say tile is the best substrate.
