Cool side at 78 F is a bit high for the winter. I worry your tank may get too hot in the summertime if it is that warm now.

If your house is not too cold, you may not need something to heat the air at all. If you do need extra heat, perhaps try regulating the lamp with a dimmer. Cool side should get down to around 70-75 F ideally, and warm side should be about 80-85 F (day temperatures).

I will note that leopard geckos can see red light. If you're going to run the lamp all the time, even at night, I recommend looking into a ceramic heat emitter instead of a light bulb.

Thanks for the reply.

I put the lamp on a dimmer, and know im holding 82 on the hot side, 74 on the cool side.

Come summertime central ac will be on all the time so temps shouldnt change much.

What im wondering is how to lower temps at night if needed.

Thanks guys, Mike
