Humidity at 80%, please help

Hi there. Ive been having a lot of trouble with my humidity. During the day, my leos humidity is anywhere from 40%-56%. But at night, when i wake up, his humidity is 70%-80%!! Ive tried leaving his tank screen open and having the a/c on. But it doesnt really help. Any tips on how i can inexpensively lower my humidity. Or any suggestions on what i should do?

What substrate are you using?

I use reptiCarpet as a substrate. I recently purchased a night bulb, as the woman at ++++++++ suggested it might be bc i dont have a night bulb to absorb the water in the air. But i fear it might get too hot at night for him.

I wouldn't use a night bulb. They can see all colors of light. And you definitely don't want it to be too hot. I would not take advice from people at chain pet stores. They rarely have any clue what they're talking about.

Personally, the high humidity doesn't sound like a big deal to me. My geckos spend like 80-90% of their time inside their humid hide which is probably that humid if not more. They are really quite tolerant of moisture and actually really need it. I don't measure humidity, but I wouldn't be surprised if it occasionally got that humid in my tubs.

I can tell you one thing; my geckos that live in tubs have a LOT less shedding problems than my gecko that lives in a tank. It's dry as bone where I live, so humidity outside of the humid hide in the tank is probably never more than 30-40%. It's probably much higher in the tubs because they are more enclosed and those geckos typically do better than the one that lives in a tank.

Thanks!! I live in texas, so its every season, every day. He seems to be doing fine with what we have already for him, so i guess i must be overreacting. Also, should i be keeping his warm hide or his cool hide humid? I currently have his cool hide more humid and he seems to be fine.

I put my humid hides on the cool side. I like to know for a fact that they have a surface that is 90 F to sit on and it's hard to regulate that in humid hides.
