Living Room/Reptile Room

I've seen some pictures of reptiles being kept in family/living rooms. I'm considering doing the same thing in my apartment. The one issue I have is that the lights in the family room at night are decently bright and I don't want them to bother my leos. For those of you that have living room setups how do you cope with human lighting affecting your leos?

All of my geckos are in my living room, except for the ones in the dining room. When we're using the living room (which I admit we don't do that much in the evening) or the dining room the lights are on. They're also on when I'm feeding geckos. As far as I can see, they cope. Sometimes when we're working on a project in the living room in the evening I look up and there are cages of interested geckos watching me. I think within reasonable limits most pets learn to cope with their familie's lifestyles. Here is a picture of my living room/ reptile room from about a year ago (it's response #54 of this thread):

We house our reptiles in the living room (here is a link with pics http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=10898). We moved the tanks to the wall across from the window to make room for a new bearded dragon enclosure we just got, but the idea is still the same. We are lucky that we get a lot of natural sunlight in our living room (now the tanks are right across from the window), so we just use a couple of table lamps for lighting in the evening if we need to.

Thanks so much for your replies, Aliza and Kelly! I really appreciate your help. I'm still setting up and I think I have the lighting all figured out now. I'll post pics when all is said and done. :D

Mine arent in my living, they are in the basement. I use rope lighting and small desk lights that are on a timer. I do all my reptiles are night so the lights are on, they aren't bothered with it, they (I think) get used to it.
