Well it's a work in progress, I'm actually just waiting for the UTHs so I can stick them on the bottom of it before I set the tiles in and get everything else set up. So I'm pretty much waiting for UPS and FedEx to deliver everything right now lol

Thought I'd share pics of what it looks like right now anyway, kind of the start of this neat little project.

It's already got the lamps set up, the canopy style lamp has two fluorescent 15watt coil bulbs (equal to a normal 60watt bulbs) in it, the kind you use in your house, it's set up on an outlet timer so that it'll simulate the day cycle. Then I've got the dome lamp set up on the stand with a red bulb in it, and it's mainly for nighttime viewing since from what I've heard the red light doesn't bother them or mess up their little biological clocks. So when the canopy lamp goes off the red lamp comes on, since it's on the timer outlet as well, plugged into one of the nighttime outlets.

Anyway on to the pics since that's all I've got set up so far.

and it is a 48" long by 18" wide by 17" tall tank that I ordered from Glasscages.com, one of their "knock-down" tanks, which worked pretty well and it's sturdier than I thought it would be. Should be perfect for the two girls I'm hoping to get.

Let me know what ya'll think of it so far ^^

Wow! Sweet tank! It'll be nice and roomy for them, they'll love it!

I was looking at their tanks, too. How are the shipping costs on those? Was it difficult to put together?

I was looking at their cages too. Aren't the knock down ones the acrylic ones? That's what my other thread in this section is about...whether you can use a UTH on acrylic. I got one reply saying that it worked fine for them, it just makes me nervous to buy it and have it possibly melt or crack.

Let us know how it works for you though :D ! And I can't wait to see it all setup....it's going to be nice and roomy!

I think the shipping cost for me was $30 and it was shipped directly to my house via UPS, and it wasn't too hard to put together at all, slipping the pieces into the little corner holders was a bit frustrating at first, but eventually I guess I worked out a method that got them in on the first hit.

That and be careful with the glue stuff they send, it's powerful stuff in smell and hold, but if the tank has any static cling still on it (from the blue paper I assume and probably being winter and dry doesn't help either lol), the little fine strings that hang off the tip after you use it tend to suck right to the acrylic sides and once it's there you may as well not bother trying to wipe it off because it'll just smear and then stick on like a haze and I'd rather have little spiderweb strings than a smear.

I haven't figure out how to get it off, or if you even can, I think I've got two spots that are like that but they're so tiny I'm not that worried about it. That and it helps to have something to put a little force on the pieces you're gluing to the frames that way you don't have to sit there and hold it forever lol. I think when I glued the ends of it, I stood it up on end so that the freshly glued side was on the floor and piled the tiles I bought for their substrate on it to keep some weight on it overnight.

And yes the knock-down ones are the acrylic ones, and I saw your thread and I actually didn't think about that! I hope it won't melt! That'd suck! But I think what I'm gonna do is put a few little pegs on each corner and in the middle to keep it up off the table (since the little pegs that come with the UTHs, or the one I got anway, suck! and that was with a smaller tank) so maybe it won't hurt it that much. Plus I think the knock down ones are meant to be terrariums or vivariums anyway because they say NOT to put water in them because they're not built for it. So it may be alright, I figure they'd know that a lot of reptile keepers use UTHs and heating sources with their products.

Though that is a good question, and I'm not really sure, I hope it won't hurt the acrylic.

Well I'm beginning to think it'll be fine, as long as you are using a thermostat or rheostat to keep the temps down. I think I'm going to go ahead and order two tanks for myself (or my geckos really :D ), they are really at a pretty decent price for the fact that I can't buy them at any store around here.

they are pretty decent! That's why I bought from them, and yeah I'm thinking they'll be alright too, I've got a couple thermostats that I'm gonna use with my two UTHs.

and it is huge, but I'd rather them have LOTS of room as opposed to too little ^^
