He built the two that are white on the bottom? It looks good! Tell him "good job" :D
I wish I was handy with wood, because I'd love to be able to build my own things.

very cool! Is that tank with the light in it supposed to be for a Leo? If so loose it, Leos don't need heat lamps since they're nocturnal.

Not always the case...We need ours to keep the temps up..however it isn't in the cage it is on top of it.

To OP... way cool set up!!

There is no reason for her to "lose it". Leo's do just fine with Heat Lamps. Most of mine have been kept solely on Heat Lamps for quite some time.

Hey guys thanks for the nice comments! :D

I know that lights are not that advisable but all my Leos have lights but they arn't infact heat lamps, just flourescent lights. I use them because i think they look good and the Leo's don't mind it, they just don't come out in the light which is fine because there nocurnal and once the lights go off on a timer they come out to be fed. I don't see a problem. But thanks for the concern. :main_thumbsup:

You're keeping your Leo's on heat lamps solely? no UTH at all as a heat source? THAT is an issue, because in order for Leos to digest their food easily they need belly heat. Not to mention what are you doing at night to keep the temps in the tank up to 90 degrees? The hot side shouldn't dip below that?

Not to mention Leos can't see very well in bright light, and it does damage their lights. Leos also should never be placed in an area were they can directly be hit by sunlight. For those same reasons.

AND sometimes your natural thought is, "well this is closer to their natural habitat." They would have overhead heat from the sun in nature. 1. In nature Leos would be in the high deserts of Aphganistan and other Middle Eastern countries hiding under rocks during the day and only are active at night. They generally are able to avoid all UV rays in their day by doing this. 2. Many of the breeds that we trade as "captive bred" geckos are bred by crossing albino geckos with other strands, they aren't the insane color mixes we now have throughout the pet trade. As such they are more light sensitive than a true "normal" gecko would be. 3. They are our pets, as captive bred pets we control their environments, we keep their environments more sanitary than nature, we control their diet (many of these things they'd have to find naturally in the desert) and we control their heat source. Their lives are pampered intentionally, giving them a much longer life span than natural geckos.

Not trying to hassle you, just take it into consideration.

Yes, they two of mine were kept with just a Heat lamp for a few years. I got them when I was around 9 years old, and from the chain stores. They obviously always give incorrect information, and since I was 9, I thought they were so smart.

Since I joined GeckoForums, all my geckos have belly heat, and I use Ceramic heat emitters with the UTH's on my cages to "show off".
