Make sure you use a thermostat with Flex Watt Heat Tape or you could have some serious issues. I have quite a bit of it running on my rack system using a BAH 1000 thermostat. When you go the heat tape page on Big Apple Pet Supply's website watch the video because they really tell you how to use it properly.

Alright so I was wondering, how EXACTLY you would hook up a flexwatt system to your rack? Do you need multiple strands, are can you weave one strand all the way? Can someone please explain in detail, and or with pictures.

Thanks!

Also, what are some definate no nos with flexwatt? Precautions?

You can do two basic types of wireing, Dasy wire, and homerun.

Daisy wire is a way to connect all your rows into one outlet, linking them back and forward.

Daisy wire pros- If you daisy wire you will only need one outlet for your whole rack.
Daisy wire cons- If one row goes out, all the others below it will go out.

Homerun is another way to wire its pretty simple, just hook up a row and plug it in.

Homerun pros- Easly replaceable, just swap the row out
Homerun cons- you will need an outlet for every row.

I have another question; would it be ok to attach the flexwatt to would using foil tape? The wood is just in sections, about 3ft apart. I drew a quick picture using paint to get my point across. The black is the flexwatt and the brown is the wood.

Well I'll be attaching a thermostat or rheostat of course, but my question was based on more on safety. Is it ok to attach flexwatt to wood, like in the picture I made?

If you order from www.reptilebasics.com they'll put it together for you. I ordered from Bean Farm and needed help putting it together and I had the worst customer service. I had my geckos cold for over a week. They told me to cut 1' off and rewire it (making me lose 1' of heating) and once that didn't work he insisted it was my connection, though I, my neighbor, and my father in law (an electrician) checked them over. All in all, no refund at all even though they made it so I was down 1' on each row. I called Reptile Basics, told them my story with bean farm, and he gave me 20% off for my trouble and put it together for me.

I'd always go through Reptile Basics from now on with the superb help and support I got. He even over nighted it for no extra charge to get my reps warmed up.
