I can't seem to figure this out right. The instructions are:
1) Ensure the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer is removed from the wall receptacle.
2) Each timer segment around the timer dial represents 15 minutes. Push down the segments according to the time you want the device(s) to turn on and how long you wish for it to stay on.
3) Turn the timer dial until the pointer is aligned to the presenttime.
4) Plug the device(s) into the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer and then plug the Exo Terra Dual Outlet Timer into the receptacle.
5) The timer function can be switched off by moving the red slide switch on the side of the timer toward "I". The timer plug will then bypass the timer function and supply power permanently.

I've followed these steps exactly. When testing it; I push the little segments down for a few hours, set the time to at least an hour before, plugged the fan or light in, then plugged the timer in the wall. The device starts going immediately. The red switch is set to the timer.

Yeah I got that thing too.. Couldn't figure it out... Don't really need it anyways. I have two lights, one regular bulb and one red light.. The regular light is turned on around 8 o'clock AM or whichever time is closest to it when I go to work and turned off around 8 at night. The red light is only on at night when I am awake for my own viewing pleasure and I turn it off when I go to bed.. So no need anyways for me atleast to have the timer... In my opinion it was a waste of money. Now I just use it for an extra power strip.

I leave for work around 8am but I like to keep the CHE on until around noon. The room the gecko is in gets a little warmer than the rest of the house so the CHE isn't really needed after noon. The things shuts off in the middle of the night sometimes or the dial will be a few hours behind. I'm going to return it soon.

I got one from Big Lots that works well. It only has one plug though. Lol

Sent from my Samsung Captivate using Tapatalk 2.

I just tested it again with the fan and it turned on/off when it was supposed to. Now the CHE is plugged in set to turn on around 9:45-10pm so we'll see how that goes.

I've had one of those for my beardie's two lights for the past few months. It's definitely a weird little device, mine seems to pick and choose its own times it will come on/turn off, but the variation in time is really minor. Overall I wouldn't say it's a great product, but it works and having two outlets is handy. Hope yours works out for you!
