Too much humidity! Suggestion?

I just recently moved from SoCal to Oreogn. The weather is much different here of course and I am finding it hard to control the humidity in my leopard gecko tanks. I have a 40 gallon that seems to be upwards of 65% to 70% humidity!! I tried moving it to a different room of the house and it's still too high. The 10 gallon however is resting at 55% and is placed higher up than the 40 gallon tank. Would raising the 40 gallon tank higher off the ground help reduce humidity? I am in the process of building a stand/cabinet for it. What are ways that I can reduce humidity inside the house? It's already cold here so running the AC doesn't make sense. I actually don't even turn it on at all and it stays about 65F inside. Would adding a fan help reduce humidity? Do I have to buy a de-humidifier? I have been using a hair dryer on low to control the tanks when it gets too humid. That probably sounds really dumb, but I really care about my leos and don't want them to get sick (they actually come out of their hides to enjoy the warm air flow lol).

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Reducing the size of their water dish if you have a medium or large one will help a little as well as keeping it on the cold side of your tank, but that won't do anything for you if the ambient humidity is too high. You may want to look into a dehumidifier for the room if the ambient humidity is too high (keep the door to the room shut if possible if you go this route). I've seen them anywhere from $10 up to $100s of dollars. I haven't used one myself so I can't recommend one to you.

Anything under 65% should be okay. I wouldn't worry about it unless you see condensation on the inside of the tank or the substrate is damp. Reducing it too much below "normal room humidity" can be detrimental as well.
