Hoping this will be helpful for some.

My mealworms are kept in a bedding of gutload from Pro Geckos. I hand pick the best looking ones when I'm feeding. You can see in the first picture that they are already pretty plump and don't look like the ones you buy that are kept in bran/etc.

After picking them out, I throw some carrot in there for more gutloading.

Here you can see them eating the carrot.

Right before feeding, I dust with vitamins/calcium. This is what dusted, well gutloaded mealworms look like.

For dubia, they are fed MS2 roach chow and fresh veggies. I also hand pick them and give them some extra carrot before feeding them to my geckos/animals. You can see they are plump and not flat.

And they get dusted before feeing them to the animals, too.

Thanks everyone! I'll be happy if it helps out just one person. Not everyone understands how much good gutload can alter the nutritional content of the feeder insects.

And what gutload do they live in? I have mealworms on oats with carrots for now. But i will try nd find the bedding from pro geckos :) it sounds interesting

I don't keep dubia in any bedding. They are kept in a clear container that is deep enough that they can't climb. I give them water crystals, MS2 roach chow, and some fresh veggies to eat. I also use egg cartons for them to hide in and under. That's really it for dubia. My husband does the dubia breeding and I do the mealworms.

Can you post some pictures of your mealworm set up(s)? What about the darkling beetles?

They are just kept in gutload in a plastic storage container. I pick out the pupae (aliens) and beetles and keep them in a separate container. Nothing fancy to it.

Since I can no longer get MS2 chow, I started using Pro Geckos gutload with my dubia, too. They have been eating it all with no issues.
