"Shark mouth"

So I've recently ditched feeding crickets all together, I have a new baby beardie and he is eating dubia mainly so I figured I would just get extra and give those to Emmy and Pepper as well. They seem to LOVE the change in the dinner menu, they are also getting small/medium superworms and some reptiworms as well. However, I have a slight problem with my male, Pepper, he has what I affectionately call a "shark mouth." He strikes at his food so fast and hard. This was fine with crickets, because they are kinda plump and there is something to grab on to, but the dubia and worms are more flat. So he misses a lot, and practically slams his face into the plate. I was hoping over time he would figure out how to use his tongue a little more, as Emmy does, but so far that is not the case. Although we've now bonded more since I hand feed him a good part of his meal; I can only watch him struggle so long before I have to help!

Has anyone else's gecko eaten this way? And do you think that with some more time he will get better at being able to eat the dubia and worms?

Thanks!
