Hi everyone! I recently got my first leopard gecko, Mango, and after getting a sampler of Dubias and finding she enjoys them, I'm very interested in starting my own colony. I've been scouting many forums on this subject as well as different starter colony packages, but I'm still a little unsure on how many adults I should start off with - especially seeing as I only have the one gecko.

Right now Mango is approx. 3-4 months old and thus has a monstrous appetite. How many adults/what ratio do you guys think would be appropriate for a small colony for just her?

Typically you will want 2 males and about 10-12 females to being your colony. Please understand that starting a Dubia colony takes 4-6 months to get to a point where you can feed of it. At that point you will need to keep a separate bin of mature males and females to replace the starting adults when they get too old. You feed the old ones to your leo and replace with younger ones. Good luck!
