I'm gonna be a new leo owner in a week and I plan on feeding it both mealworms and crickets. How many should I get at a time so they don't all die before the can be eaten?
Our Leo goes through one tub of crickets every two weeks, sometimes sooner if she's feeling rather hungry. The crickets usually live this long but a few start dying near the end of the two weeks.
Just a word of warning about mealies, we had a tub that our Leo never ate and after a few weeks the mealworms turned into beetles. Not a nice surprise when I opened the tub!
If you keep the worms in the fridge (i use the meat drawer) they stay worms a long time if taken out to warm up every week or two with a slice of vegie as a snack.
Find a place for the crickets far from your bedroom... them males will have you wanting to squash them all after a half a night... once you move up to adults from smalls...
