What is the best diet for leopard geckos? And then for breeding leopard geckos? What is a good staple, and then what should I give for variation, etc.
I've read about alot of different foods, but am not sure what would be a good staple.

Thanks,

Draba

I use mealworms as a staple, and crickets twice a week or so. Pinkies and wax worms are good to give to female leos after they lay eggs to help them gain their weight back, but should never be used as a staple food item.

We feed dubias at night & keep mealworms in the tubs all the time. I also will occasionally feed waxworms, silkworms, and butterworms.

I feed a staple of mealworms. Each month I add something else to the mix: crickets, phoenix worms, and waxworms (tried superworms, but they would touch them). I plan to continue giving a variety. I'd like to try silkworms, dubias, & butterworms. IMO, a variety is best for their health. And of course, always supplimenting with calcium & multi-vitamins.

A nutritious meal, would be a meal with not jsut one food item, but a few. Its better to give them diverse food items. Great staples are mealworms, crickets, roaches, or superworms. Maye give two or so fo these as a staple diet, and they should be well fed. I do not suggest pinkies. Pinkies are mad eof small bones, which geckos ahve trouble digesting. Geckos are insectovours, meaning they eat insects, not mammals such as mice. THey are also very fatty, and are known to cause fatty liver disease in excess.
