I think when worms mate, they have beetles. Because I seen white shell thing, looks like an egg, that moves in the worm containers I have. I leave out of fridge and by the the time my gecko would eat anything, wa la I have beetles in the tank, or cup container. I only have the wood chips, that is all I feed the worms. Seems to work for me as I keep seeing beetles in the tank with my gecko. And no I do not have house bugs.

mealworms turn into beetles over time, beetles then mate and have mealworms.

Those little white egg things that your referring to are pupae. It's like a cocoon you could say. The worm morphs into that then becomes a beetle. Like keepzrollin said, Beetles Mate, Lay Eggs, Eggs hatch, Mealworms grow, Turn into Pupae and Morph into beetles, then they start all over again.

Back to the question. I personally used grinded oatmeal for my worms so it's easier to sift through them for and the beetles I used regular oatmeal so they'd have a better surface to grab on too. I noticed in the grinded oatmeal they'd turn upside down and it'd take years to get over again. A lot of people us Oatmeal and add more stuff like wheat bran, flax seed, sprilina, baby cereal, etc because they use the bedding as food/gutload too.

And the regular carrots as moisture because I found they hold up longer and don't mold as fast compared to potatoes and apples.

My breeding drawers for both mealworms and super worms have wheat bran and layer crumbles in them for bedding. I use carrots for their moisture.

To keep from too much humidity accumulating I crack the drawers an inch or so for venilation.

This has worked very well for me.

I keep my "feeders" in sepearte containers.
