I know theres a poll about this. But the people that use mealworms over superworms is it because of price difference? Lets assume the following prices which would you use. I currently raise mealworms with about 3-4 million and raising i didn't know how many people use supers instead of regular mealworms and if I should start breeding them. Thanks for any help.

1k mealworms at $4
or
1k superworms at $10

Just wanted to add im not selling any worms at this time. Just wanted to get some knowledge to why people choose mealworms over supers. I dont have any geckos so I didnt know if it was just the large price difference or other reasons.

I think supers are more appealing to the geckos.
For dinner, would you rather have just the buns (mealies), or the whole hamburger (supers) ?

I used to feed mine mealworms (my boys at least) but now they're both eating superworms. One just wouldn't eat mealworms but loves the supers, and the other now gives me a look of "You expect me to eat that? Where's my REAL dinner?" when I try to feed him mealworms now. My baby eats mealworms though, she loves them. Good thing, as I have about 1000 or so from my first attempt at breeding.

For me mealworms are so much easier to raise, I always have to many. Seems like I am always waiting for the supers to multiply, and supers seem to have more of a smell ( in large quantities).

Meh, you just leave mealworms to do their business and they breed like...well like insects. But superworms, digging out the big ones, separating them, waiting for them to pupate...it's a hassle.

I'm currently trying my hand at breeding supers, though. We'll see how this goes

I don't breed supers, but I don't go through them very quickly (unless they die, but usually it's the small and weak ones that are mixed in with the big, regular ones.). Tiamat is currently back on her hunger strike, and Mandarin has slowed down her consumption since she's reached adulthood. I find that they are easier to maintain than mealies, and last a lot longer. My geckos seem to love them (well when Tiamat will eat.). and while they'll eat mealies and crickets, they seem to prefer a big, fat super any day. I actually tried giving them a choice once. I put some mealies in front of them and then a super; they chose the super first every time.

If I end up with more geckos, I'll probably look into breeding my own supers, but for now I just get the 25 pack up at the petstore for $3.

It also takes less supers to fill a gecko up than mealies, since of corse mealies are smaller...haha duh, I just realized how stupid this comment is, I'll post it anyways so some of you can laugh at my stupidity, lol, & I am very sleepy... so, GOODNIGHT!! :D
