I have one leo and i breed my meal worms for a couple reasons. First you save money and dont have to keep buying them. Second if you every have too many you can sell them to make some money. Third the more meal worms you have the more you can feed your gecko. Plus you can use them as fishing bait as well.

I've also got a single SHTCT--I buy 50 mealies at a time, keep half in the fridge. I primarily feed crickets. I get a price break at 50/$4but the mortality rate and stink are pretty bad. Its nice to have a supply of mealworms to suppliment the diet, but I would think breeding would be a pain...

I feed them to my leopard gecko as a staple with crickets once in a while to mix it up, and i do the opposite with For my tokay. Breeding is easy just time consuming. Just buy a Gross amount and put into a large container with 2" substrate... and they do the rest. i put in a small piece of lettuce on paper towel every once in a while for the beetles to eat, they love it.

Also, mealworms make a great addition to bird feeders if you like attracting shizz loads of birds into your yard. But the problem is they allways eat them too quickly lol.

Thanks guys, i need more votes though. My dad is being hard headed and i said i cant keep paying $5 bucks for 100. He keeps replying, " go online and ask the people that breed their own how many leopard geckos they feed". I keep telling him that doesnt matter!!!
And if i have too many my brother or sister could get a leopard gecko because i have a 20 gal, but id prefer to sell them
, or i could give them to my friend down the street who has a skink. I have alot of options if i have excess.

Nope... I have one leo and I breed roaches and going to experiment with supers, which means I need more geckos, lol. I might sound a little much but I rather have more than be short at anyone time and I know where my feeders are coming from and what they're being feed so I know they're healthy and doing well. Plus there's always a need for feeders so if you have to many its going to be pretty easy to get rid of them. Keeping me leo healthier and happier. Plus it's not cost to me because I refuse to pay $2.50 for 50 half dead mealworms!

I only have 2 leos but I've started to breed my own mealworms. So if you breed too many, you can always get another leo.

Breeding takes up little room, saves money, and requires little effort. Just cleaning and providing moisture. Plus you can better monitor how well they are gut-loaded. I say go for it! I only have two leos and I breed mealies for them.
Your mind appeals to me. It resembles my own mind except that you happen to be insane.
