i have always fed my leos regular mealworms. i use to have my leos in 20g glass tanks and i had a dish that was always full of worms for them to eat whenever they want. now i have built a rack and every night i put in about a dozen in each ones tubs and ive notice that alot of them are eating all of them all right away.so one of my questions is how often should i feed them and is a dozen at a time enough for adults and juvies. my second question is what about super worms. i know alot of people feed reg mealworms but i know some use supers is there any pros and cons thanks

I like supers better because an adult leo only needs 3-4 3 times a week. My 8 mos old boy gets that feeding schedule and is doing great on it. He was eating as many as 15 mealies at a sitting 3x a week with a snack on sundays of about 5-6. Altho I must admit I still give him a snack on sundays but now it's only like 3-4 mealies :) I notice he gets a little frustraited with being handled if he has an overly full belly.

I don't think I've ever had that problem Moe... He consistantly has new poo's in his litterbox. Less shell on the supers than feeding 10-15 mealies tho... and he only eats 3 3x a week which may be getting bumped down to 2 as he seems to really debate eating the third one. My breeder had been feeding Eros supers for quite some time before I got him at 7 mos old. How many are you feeding your leo at a time and how often?

My adults are happy with one super every other day, sometimes they don't want even one but will eat next time around. They're quite robust so don't need any more than that. If they skipped a feeding I will offer two, but often they don't want the second worm.

Moe, your supers need to be fed a healthy diet to be a healthy food source for your pet. Carrots, romaine lettuce, potatoes (sweet potatoes too), squash, any dense veg scraps. They need the moisture from veggies. Also good bedding. They eat that too. Rolled oats is a good additive.

Litter box:

It's a tie box 'cause they have higher sides than any other gift box, cut in half and sized, then wrapped in duct tape to make it moisture resistant. Filled with desert sand sift thru a collander once a week and you're good to go.

I don't know that I'd say that I trained him so much as fooled him. It's right on top of his favorite hide and when he was new he wouldn't have to travel far and I had his breeder send me some of his poo from his tub so I baited the litterbox knowing it would be one of the first places he'd find, and hoping the bait would give a clue (like it does with dogs), and he just took right to it. I usually just sift it thru a spaghetti collander weekly, and every 3 mos change half the desert sand so it doesn't start to stink but still has some scent to attract him. He even pees in it and that kinda clumps the sand so if you don't sift it hard you can get the whole clump kinda like kitty litter.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have Toph, but just PM me please so we don't take this thread any further off topic ok :)
