Stalking but not eating

Hi everyone, 12 days ago my male Super Giant (106g) was shipped to me from Ron Tremper. Since he arrived, I've seen him eat one giant mealworm and one small (3/4" mealworm). He hasn't eaten in the past few days, but I'm puzzled as to why. Every time I offer a mealworm at the entrance to his hide, he'll come up and stalk it, maybe lick it, but then walk away. This is discouraging to me, but should I be worried? I think my feeders are in good shape, and there's nothing wrong with them. Has anyone experienced behavior like this? Should I take it as a good sign that he's at least showing *some* interest in mealworms?

He's in no danger at this point by not eating and is still in an acclimation period to his new home. Give him some time, keep his stress level to a minimum and let him get comfy. Then he may eat you out of house and home like a teenager :)

A few of mine do this exact same thing sometimes.

Okay, thank you!

Also, even though his appetite is poor he is still very active and literally stepped onto my hand when I was cleaning his tank this morning. It was the first "handling" I've done with him since I didn't want to stress him, but is it ok to pick him up if he's the one who's initiating it?

(Sorry for all the noob questions)

If he's fine with it, I see no reason to hold back. I wouldn't 'try' and pick him up for a bit but if he is just walking on you should be just fine. He may have just been feeling like a little exploring. :)

Yeah he's definitely an explorer! He's getting bolder and bolder every evening. Last night he just would not stay put, kept exploring every inch of his habitat. He's never been that curious before, so I think that might start to extend to people too.

I had a thought tonight and decided to move my female to another room. Her tank was directly underneath his, and maybe he can tell she's nearby. He certainly seems active and happy just... not into food. He's gained 2g since I got him, though, so he's not losing weight.

My female, on the other hand, has gained a whopping 14g since I brought her home on July 15!!

Now he's eating like crazy. Apparently all I had to do was switch it up from mealworms to superworms. :)
