I free feed Rango at this point because he's maintaining a weight I like. If he starts to gain too much, we'll cut back.

How many days can a mealworms be in a feeding dish and still be alive and healthy to eat for our leopard gecko? I wasn't sure if I was supposed to take uneaten mealworms out the next day, or if they can stay in the dish for another day (or 2)?

I'm mainly thinking in terms of care when we are away on vacation. Can we have a friend load up the dish with 3 days of mealworms and just do that every three days (or 2), or do mealworms need to be swapped out every day?

i usually feed my gecko 8-10 crickets or roaches. but now it doesnt eat them all as it always wants to come out instead of eating.

varies greatly, specially when he's eating my damn cactus.

he gets, usually two large of these combos; earthworms, wax worms, super worms, lg crickets, every night just before i go to bed. occasionally he'll get 3 just depends on if he's be an extra beggar or not.

as treats he also gets puree strawberries and bananas a few licks worth, also a few licks of honey off my finger and mushed avocado. he seems to like sweet plants, so this is to make my cactus last longer, if he doesn't get his damn treat every few weeks he starts on my plants. >.>

exceptions are when i go on long 3 day weekend trips he can't go. then we get about 10 pin heads, hide some cricket drink and food in his tank where he can't get it. and they give him enough go for his time to grow a bit and hide before he catches them all and decimates them.

tried letting him eat till he's full, instead he eats till he pukes. so we stopped that.

Ron Tremper:
"Keepers can offer two appropriately sized insects for every inch of a leopard gecko’s total length. A meal every other day is fine. Therefore, a 4-inch-long gecko would receive eight mealworms three to four times a week."

My Annie just ate 8 crickets and a few mealies. I like the idea of meal worms in a dish at all times and crickets everyday dusted. As many crickets as she will eat within 15 minutes.

At the weight my two are at, I feed them three large crickets every other day with the occasional hornworm or silkworm.

I know this is crazy but I am gonna get one soon and I am gonna feed crickets to them.... But I think i'll do two each day cause put to many in and there eat the gecko!!! So I might be wrong but if I am just reply. Its different if you feed meal worms or if you feed crickets. So yes every gecko if differen with feeding there is no clear respond that would really give you the right idea so decide if you wanna do meal worms crickets or other live insects hope I helped!

You feed as many crickets as they want. Put one at a time or two at a time. When they stop eating them after 15 minutes then you know they are full and you can take those crickets out of the tank. EVERYDAY! Unless its an adult. Then its every other day.

I feed about 7-8 mealworms, large crickets, or waxworms every other day or so. He seems to always be hungry which makes feeding time fun. I've never fed him pinkies or silkworms and I breed my own mealworms. Are pinkies mandatory for leopard geckos? I'm kinda grossed out by it but if he needs it for survival I will do it!

I guess I fall more in the lines of "feeding until they stop eating". If I noticed one was leaving mealies behind I'd then start keeping track and counting. I also switched from feeding everyday to every other. I like mine to have a good prey response, if you will, made spotting any changes easier for me. Also another reason why each had its own set up. I like knowing each leos habits.

I keep a constant supply of small or medium mealworms in a dish, usually 10-16 and fill it back up when Echo eats them all or if she doesnt find an interest in the few remaining in the dish. Usually she will eat them all over a few day period and sometimes she will eat all of them over night.. I also give her crickets every night, usually about 4 dusted with repashys calcium plus.. Sometimes I'll put 6-8 in the viv if thats how many get shaken into the dusting bag.. She will usually eat them all over night but sometimes there is one or two still running around the next day.. But when I put in 4 or 5 crickets she will eat them all right away.. She loves chasing them around the tank. It seems like I am feeding her a lot but she was really thin when I got her, and she is looking good now, plus shes still just a juvie so my philosophy if she needs to grow, she needs to eat.

I've been thinking about doing a leave-in dish of mealworms. Might be easier than my nightly dusting and feeding for my two leos.

Yeah I started doing this because at first Echo wouldn't eat meal worms whatsoever so I put in a constant supply and didnt feed her crickets for a few days and she now eats them... It's nice because unless I am short on crickets she wont eat as many and I only have to fill it every few days or so.. Just have to take the mealworms out and clean the dish every so often because of the mealworms shed and what not.
