As long as you take them out once a week to feed them and give them drink for 1 days. They will last for all eternity. No that would be cool but they last abour 4 months - 6months depends wether or not they go to alien mode lol

I put them in the fridge about 2-3 times a week, I keep between 2,000 & 3,000 at all times and never had a problem with any dying.

Well I’m going to get some today and going to try and breed them.
:D

Iv got the food in a 12Qt. container (bd bites, crick chow, corn flakes and old fashion oatmeal ill put a carrot in for water) with holes in lid and side of it.

If I’m right it takes 4 weeks in pupa state...
8 weeks as a beetle (will lay 500 to 1000 eggs in that time)...
1 week for eggs to hatch...
12 weeks a mealworm...
then 4 weeks as a pupa and so on correct?

They lay eggs on the food right?

The liz room is 80-85 in the room (hits 90 every so often)...
70-75 at night.
Good temp right?

And any worms I want to save I can put in fridge.:main_rolleyes:

Any thing you know ill take.:)

Thanks,
Herp Encounter!

If you get condensation, your ventilation holes are too sparse of too small. As far as breeding, they lay the eggs on the bottom of the box, so be sure not to wipe out the case they are in. Once you get going you are going to need 4+ bins to have them cycle through. I have had bad results with keeping the pupae (aliens) in any warmer than 83*f. Any higher and you will get deformities and they will die from not being able to move or from the healthy beetles eating their soft insides. I have found that keep the newly shed beetles in a separate container for a few days till their shell hardens a good practice, it can save a lot of beetles. So enjoy!:D

Make sure to give your mealies something wet (like a potato) in addition to whatever grain you're putting them in. They can survive like that, but not as well. Also they need to be warmish to thrive. Not hot, not cold... (exactly what temp I have no idea...)
