HELP! tail tip looks burnt..???

i just looked at my gecko today, lil 2 month old. and her tail freaked me the hell out. what is this?!


i keep the temps between 86-90 and i have a rack system. shes the ONLY one that looks like this, all the others are fine, and ive had her for a few weeks.

what is that? it seems to have no feeling in it whatever it is

looks like a bite. could one of the others have bitten it? or possibly stuck shed on the end causing it to restrict and its starting to die?
have you tried bathing it to see if you can roll any skin off?

they are all binned individualy. she recently shed so..im THINKING its tail rot. thats what it looks like.
im gathering funds for the vet visit now...

I'd put a touch of neosporin on it and keep a close eye on it for a week or so. It looks like a bit of stuck shed or a small injury like maybe she got the tip stuck under a hide or something in her cage? Also triple check your temperatures are around 90-92 and that there are no hot spots on your UTH to make sure she couldn't have gotten burned somehow. If it gets worse, get her into a vet ASAP. My guess would be it would start to get better. Maybe turn blackish before it heals completely but it shouldn't move further up the tail.

Tail burns could either be a burn from the heater or a scale rot from excess humidity. But yours looks like a bloody bite though

so..my roomates n friends keep suggesting i just "pull the end of her tail off" since leopard geckos can drop their tails..they say "why pay someone a bunch of money to amputate it when you can just do it yourself for free?? i mean their tails are SUPPOSED to come off"

i...feel like that may NOT be the best idea?? but i have no ACTUAL evidence to support that.
are they right?...or am i right to want it done in a vets office.

You definately want it done in the vets office (if it even needs to be done). Even though leos CAN drop their tails, they do not WANT to drop their tails and it can cause a lot of pain and stress that can lead to more problems than before. It looks like a peice of stuck shed to me, but you need a vet to confirm a diagnoses. It can be something really simple or really bad, but you'll never know unless a vet tells you. Amputating a part of your gecko at home is definately not the way to go. She could also panic and end up losing her entire tail if you attempt it, which takes away most of her fat reserves.

If you broke a finger, would you want one of your roomates to chop it off to avoid the cost of the doctors visit? You are definately right to want it professionally done in a sterile office with mild anastethics (sp?) and antibotics to keep her healthy.
