I'm not sure this is the right place for it, so I'm sorry if its not, but my young onyx leo is starting to get more yellow where he is grey. He's not as yellow as my older leo, but I don't know what caused this to happen? I currently don't have pictures, but will get some when I get home.

He is acting normal, eats as he normally does, and doesn't seem sick, but I'm not sure what to do about his coloring. When I got him he was all black and grey, no other colors, and as he's been shedding, he starts to get more yellow. This is only the second leo I've owned, and I know very little about them (Other than what the book tells me, but it doesn't cover this) and I just want to make sure he isn't sick or anything.

Leos change color every shed. For example, when I got mine he had alot of yellow on his tail and now it's lavender with a tangerine stripe.

Exactly :) I hatched out a tangerine that had solid black bands and yellow behind it. Now he is solid neon orange from nose to halfway up his tail! Leopard geckos change drastically as they age, and if you take pictures once a week you can compare them as they grow. It's really incredible :)

My boy is yellowing up similarly to yours. He's a lovely Murphy's Patternless that is... I guess kind of a thunderstorm gray with yellow tint to his back.
Now that he has grown quite a bit, there's a bit of carrot tail (orange) at the base that he never really showed before. His yellow is becoming a bit more noticeable, but he is still a nice gray color.

Question, is "onyx" your geckos name, or its morph? I've never heard of that morph... Where did you get it? (if onyx is the morph) Just curious, and would love to see some pictures :D

I've always heard the black geckos to be called onyx... I may be wrong though.

This is a picture of when I first got him.

(Sorry, I haven't quite figured out how to post pictures yet)

And thanks! I just wanted to make sure he wasn't sick or anything, since I do keep him with my older gecko, though I'm a little upset he's turning more yellow. I was so excited to have a black leo. I think they are just gorgeous (Not that my two aren't, but I've always been a fan of black and melanistic animals.)
