Toe bones or just claws?

Hello everyone,

My gecko had a trip to the vet a few days ago, since for some unknown reason she decided to mostly chew all the skin off one of her back toes. She had just started a shed the day before, and when I went to see her before bed, she was kind of turning her body like she was trying to get to her toes. The next morning all her toes were fused together with dried blood, and it wasn't until I soaked her foot in warm water that I could see one toe missing most of the tissue. I can only think of how terribly painful that would be for me, but she's fortunately doing better now that she has antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. But I'm wondering, is what I'm seeing her toe bone, or is it just the claw? I couldn't find anything on the Internet, so I thought I'd ask the experts.

We would most likely need pictures to be able to tell you.

Here is a picture of her toe, and another of her just being adorable hanging out on my textbook. The more I look at it, the more I'm thinking claw instead of bone.

That's the bone and all

The vet told me it wasn't bone, but she also told me a UVA/UVB light wasn't necessary, right after the vet tech told me it was. I would hope the vet would know what she's talking about, but I didn't ask her for details. I wish I had.

A UVB light isn't necessary. Leopard geckos come out during the night. They don't need the UVB or any basking thing cause they don't bask. They just need UTH (Under tank heaters) they like to have a ground temp of 90 so that it can help them digest food. From what it looks like, it does look like bone. You may want to try another vet and see what they think. Getting two opinions is better than one.
