Hello everyone, I recently purchased a Leopard gecko at a reptile expo and the gecko seemed fine at the expo and after he was in his enclosure but after a day or so I noticed that when I would pick him up or he would move he would make a sound kind of like a little whistle or nose whistle sound lol. I have heard it could be RI? I wasn't able to find very much information on it but I'm not sure what else it could be. He is starting to shed and I'm hoping it will go away after he is done shedding but if it doesn't what should I do? I will be contacting the breeder I purchased him from to see if he has any other health problems but I'm also thinking about finding a vet to take him to just to be safe. He is A Super Snow Male and is about 95 grams. He does look a bit overweight and that might be part of the problem? I can attach a picture if needed also.

I'd suggest that you hold off a day and see if it's a shedding issue I've been through that myself and a warm bath up to his neck trickling water off your fingers down his head for 30 mins once a day for few days might help. If it's not a shedding issue I'd suggest a vet as I've been down that road also. It's ultimately up to you but I hope that I was of help.

95 grams is a good weight for a larger male leopard gecko. That alone makes me think he was probably being pretty well cared for by his breeder. Could be an RI, but you would probably see other symptoms too. Lethargy, anorexia, crusty nose or eyes, breathing with his mouth open.

A picture might be good to evaluate the general health of the gecko.

I might wait a little bit and see what happens. Keep a close eye for any more serious symptoms. Be careful taking him out for a bunch of baths. He's going to be under stress since he has just been moved and you really don't want to exacerbate that, especially if he could be possibly getting sick. It's really best to leave them along for the most part for a few weeks after you get them. Make sure your temps are perfect, or even a little bit warmer than perfect.

He looks very healthy. I'm not sure about the noise. The vet never hurts, so if it makes you uncomfortable it's not a bad thing to do. You might also contact the breeder and ask his opinion, and if the gecko has always been that way.

If he is active and eating and looking good, I sort of doubt it would be an RI.
