Beginning Stock Suggestions

Stock Suggestions?

Hi everyone, I am planning on eventually breeding leopard geckos, so I've been doing a lot of research. I don't plan on starting soon, but I have been trying to decide what morphs I want to start with so that I can start small but have an interesting project or two going. I am interested in creating Diablo Blancos, so I plan to pair a male RAPTOR and a female Blazing Blizzard het eclipse. The next year I'd pair a RAPTOR het blizzard produced from the first pairing with a different Blazing Blizzard het eclipse in order to hopefully produce a couple of DB's.

I also plan on breeding the original RAPTOR with another female, but I have not decided what morph yet. Is there anything that you suggest pairing with a RAPTOR for an interesting project?

I also am wondering where you suggest I find good beginning stock geckos. I know that since these geckos will be my foundation for breeding to come, their genes need to be great and accounted for. Thank you for the help!

If you can make it to the Mass Reptile Expo on 5/17 (Brockton, MA), you'll be able to see a lot of geckos "in person" and can talk to the breeders. Otherwise, it's best to buy healthy animals from reputable breeders. Many of them are listed in the banners at the top of the page. If you go to the Mass Reptile Expo, come and find me, I'll be vending there.

Thank you for the response! Unfortunately I will be living in California during the summer, so I won't be able to go to the show in Brockton. However, I am planning on going to the Reptile Expo in San Diego, so I will still be able to talk to some breeders.

I'd find either a fun genetic puzzle like that or some linebred morphs that you can continue, like stripes or emerines. Otherwise, sounds like you've got things well planned out. I could elaborate immensely on choosing a breeding stock, so if you're interested, PM me and I'll get at my computer at some point and type it all out.
