Is it bad if a male breeds with his own offspring?

(This is for future reference, I'm still waiting for an egg to be successful)I wanted to put my female gecko in the same cage as it's parents, but i'm scared that if my male tries to breed with his own daughter something bad can happen (Like with humans). Is this okay?

It's generally looked down upon unless you are line breeding for a colour morph if I'm correct. I'm sure Aliza will pipe in with the right answer. :)

It's fine for some number of generations, depending who you ask.

Are you planning on housing the hatchling with the parents from the time it hatches? Because it will almost certainly be killed if so. If you are not planning that, than why not just keep them separate? It would need to be at least 1 year old before they could be housed together anyways, and even then I wouldn't recommend permanently housing them together. You should really make sure you have enough space for all of this you're planning. Based on your previous posts, it sounds like you are not set up for it (IE, when you asked if you could house 3 geckos in a 20 gal).

Thanks guys, I wasnt going to attempt to keep the eggs she lays, i was just wondering if it would harm the female. :main_thumbsup:
It also looks as though my current female (Who the male in this post is mated with) is not laying anymore fertile eggs this season :( I'm considering buying a Mack Snow online!

I think it's a great idea for you to buy a geckos with known genetics online (although it is a little late in the season to start a female breeding). Why not buy two geckos online and retire your current geckos as pets since they have unknown genetics?

Well i'm not trying to breed them anyway, they just do it on their own. My parents are only allowing me to incubate one egg, but i may be able to convince them to let me buy a mack snow, since it's my fav morph!
