Hi everyone [emoji112] , I have a male super snow and a female tangerine carrot tail. They are currently in separate vivs but i was planning to breed them soon. Any tips/ advice would be great. Also anyone have an idea what morphs they'll produce? 20160809_191754.jpg 20160806_185643.jpg

The season is pretty much over, so you would be unlikely to be successful breeding them this year.

You would get all mack snows. If your geckos have any unknown hets, then you may see some other trait pop up. It's a bit counterproductive to breed a tangerine with a snow. Mack snows are generally bred to be as black and white as possible and tangerines are bred to be as tangerine as possible.

It's recommended to only breed geckos with known genetics.

Ok thanks. I was planning on getting more anyway. What do you recommend me getting for the most interesting results

I would recommend doing some research and getting a few geckos of your preferred morph from a reputable breeder and keeping the ones with unknown genetics as pets.

Right now is great for looking for some leos from good breeders since the season just ended. I couldn't tell you what morphs to get because there are a lot of them and it is all based on your preference.

Thanks again. Yeah I will be doing a bit more research and will just keep my 2 as pets. Is there any guides you would recommend on breeding and genetics

This is a pretty good reference page on leopard gecko genetics genetics:

Leopard Gecko Genetics - GeckoBoa Reptiles

Learning to make Punnett squares is a very useful skill to understand what is actually going on genetically. I think it's important to everyone to have a basic idea of what is going on genetically when they breed two geckos together.

I'm not sure I can pinpoint a single source for breeding. When I was ready to get into breeding, I just started looking at everything possible. I read every page I could find done by reputable breeders and went through a ton of posts on this forum to really gather to gather lots of different peoples' experiences. I asked questions here whenever I was confused or couldn't find the answer to a question (I still ask a lot of questions, there is always more to learn). It would be tough for one person to explain all of the ins and outs of breeding, so I always recommend looking at as much material as you can using google and then ask questions on forums if you don't understand or find conflicting information.

This is a good time to start with all of that as well, because then you have until at least January (my females don't seem to ovulate until March or so) to learn about breeding and get all of the necessary materials (incubators, housing for all of the babies, etc) and really decide what geckos you want. It's quite a lot of work and can be somewhat expensive, so it's good to get at it a good while before the season starts. =)
