I recently read about giving Leo's a 6-8 week cool down period. How many do that and does it help breeding? I have a pair. The eggs always either dent or mold over.not sure if they were fertile before they went south or not.

The cycle wouldn't effect eggs denting or mold over. That would have something to do with the incubation conditions. If they are molding, that could be an indicator of too high humidity in your incubator/egg laying container. If your eggs are coming out infertile, you may have bred your female too soon, are you sure your female was ovulating when you paired them?

All the 6-8 week cool down period is really supposed to do induce the breeding season, which is not really necessary at this point (and I would argue at all). Being January, the breeding season should be starting in less time than that, if it hasn't started already.

I don't cool my leopard geckos, though some of them cool themselves by going to the cool side and not eating. I cooled my fat tail geckos for the first time last season and it made absolutely no difference.
